Richard W. Steele Richard W. Steele, 88, of Tyler and formerly of Streetman and Dallas, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2006, in Tyler. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Griffin-Roughton Chapel with the Rev. John Ziegler officiating. Interment will follow at Birdston Cemetery. Mr. Steele was born Sept. 30, 1917, in the Midway community in Navarro County to White Gregg Steele and Jewell Kelly Steele. He was a member of the U.A.W. and retired from Purex Corporation in Dallas. After retirement, he enjoyed farming and ranching and working with his horses. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre of Operations. He was involved in the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of St. Lo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Steele in 1996; and a brother, Kenneth Steele. Survivors include his son, Melvin Goodman of Dallas; daughters, Joan Bruckwicki and husband Paul of Tyler and April Goodman of Arlington; grandson, Sam Bruckwicki; brother, Roger Steele of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a sister, Genevievee Costello of Grand Saline.
