Little Child Burned to Death

Ten-Months-Old Baby of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Steele Falls in Fire

  Christmas this year was a sad time for Mr. and Mrs. Jim Steele of Streetman, 
occasioned by the fact that on Sunday morning their little ten-months-old baby 
fell into the open fireplace and was burned to death.
  The father of the little child had placed it before the fireplace, but not 
near enough, he thought, for it to get into the flames. He told his little son 
to watch the baby while he went out into the kitchen to perform some little 
chore. He was gone by but a very few minutes, but when he returned he found that 
the baby had in some man-crawled and fallen forward into the fire and had already 
burned to death before being discovered. The remains were interred in the 
Birdston cemetery.
