Mexia Daily News- Apr. 24, 2004 edition Kay Carter Steele TEAGUE - Kay Carter Steele, 55, was born Aug. 16, 1948, in Tyler, and died at her residence in Teague. Graveside services for Mrs. Steele will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Greenwood Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Gauntt, pastor of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church, will officiate. Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Steele, who had resided for her entire life in Freestone and Limestone counties, was a 1964 graduate of Teague High School and was employed as an LVN. She worked in nursing homes at the Mexia State School, and in Home Health Care. She enjoyed growing flowers, sewing, and interior decorating. Mrs. Steele loved her grandsons, Jordan and Jacob, and loved her Lord. Mrs. Steele was preceded in death by her infant son, David Heath Barger; by her father, Johnny Carter, Sr.; her mother, Barbara Fay Carter; and two brothers, Johnny Carter, Jr., and Guy Carter. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Tiffany and Guy Maggard; and two grandsons, Jordon and Jacob of Teague; a granddaughter, Candance Harris of Wortham; a special prayer partner, Ruby Smith of Mexia; and her aunt, Mignon Johnson of Austin.
