Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Teague Chronicle - October 30, 2014 issue CLEO STEEN Graveside services for Mrs. Cleo Steen, 93, were held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at 11:00a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery. Bro. Darrel Beggs officiated. Visitation was held prior to the services on Wednesday from 10:00a.m. until 10:30a.m. then a funeral procession traveled from the funeral home to Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Steen passed away on Monday, October 20, 2014, at Copper Creek Plaza in Buffalo. She was born on June 12, 1921, in DeQueen, Arkansas to Jeff and Pebble Kerr, but moved to Teague with her family as a child. Cleo graduated from Teague High School with the class of 1938. She married G. V. (Jack) Steen on May 12, 1940, and shared over fifty-one years of marriage together. She obtained her Cosmetology license in 1960 and owned and operated Cleo’s Beauty Shop in Teague for over fifty years. Mrs. Steen was very talented and taught many friends and family how to sew and crochet. She painted beautiful oil paintings that are displayed in her grandchildren’s homes. Mrs. Steen was a member of First Baptist Church in Teague. She is survived by one son, Marcus Steen and wife Linda of Teague; one step-son, J. W. Steen, Sr. and wife Linda of Corpus Christi; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Lynn Steen, Jr. and wife Amanda of Teague, Stacii Lane and husband Lynnie of Lanely, Leann Conner and husband Ty, Michelle Bowers, Steven Steen and wife Susan of Teague; one step-grandson, J. W. Steen ,Jr. and wife Linda of Katy; twelve great-grandchildren, Jason Steen, Samantha Secrest, Jeffrey Lynn Steen, III, Marc Reid, Megan Villa, Jared Conner, Rachel Woodruff, Madison Steen, Mallory Steen, and Miley Steen; two step-great-granddaughters, Hannah and Sarah Steen; six great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Rachel Steen of Teague; one niece, Glenda Buck; one great-niece, Leah Boehnemann; one great-nephew, Mitchell Buck; two great-great nieces; three great-great-nephews; special friend, Debbie Cockerham of Teague and other friends. Mrs. Steen was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Pebble Kerr; her husband, G. V. (Jack) Steen; one son, Jeffrey Lynn Steen, Sr.; and one sister, Margretta Schrader.
