Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Dallas Morning News February 6 1890 Page: 2 Fairfield, Tex., Feb. 3.--Yesterday at 10 o'clock the masonic lodge buried E. L. STERLING, who died Saturday at Mexia of rheumatism. A large procession of the mystic fraternity preceded the body to the grave, where the ancient burial service of the order was conducted by D. W. F. MOORE in the presence of a lage assemblage who had gathered to witness the ceremony. One sad feature of the programme and a matter of comment among several was the fact that the deceased was present only a few months before and acted as chaplain at the burial of H. S. DREINRIGHT, another deceased member of the fraternity, and the last masonic burial at this place. Both of them were strong and robust men and were brothers- in-law. Mr. STERLING was also a member of the knights of honor and his widow will receive $2000 from that order.
