Mexia Daily News - Nov. 11, 2003 edition Eloise (Baldridge) Stover TEAGUE - Eloise Baldridge Stover, 91, was born Feb. 12, 1912, in Breckenridge to the Rev. Jesse H. and Lena V. McClure Baldridge. She died Sunday after a short illness. She attended Tarleton State College, Texas Woman's College, and received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas in 1932. After teaching one year in Abbott, she came to Teague to teach home economics at Teague High School. During her first year in Teague, she met John L. Stover. They were married in 1934 with her father performing the ceremony. In 1959 she and her family moved to Corsicana where she taught at Collins Junior High. After receiving her Master's degree from East Texas State University, she became a member of the faculty at Navarro College and was an instructor for eight years before taking early retirement in 1973. In 1976, they moved back to Teague where Johnny died on Jan. 1, 1988. They were married for 53 years. Eloise was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, a life member of the Retired Teachers of Texas and a life member of Texas Lions Camp for Crippled Children. In 1982, she received a gold diploma as a 50-year ex-student honor from the University of Texas. She was a past-president of the Teague Study Club and was active in the First United Methodist Church of Teague. Funeral services for Mrs. Stover were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Charles Jordan officiated. Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Lancaster of Teague; a son and daughter-in-law, John D. and Lynell Stover of Lufkin; a grandson, Derek Lancaster and wife Diana of Teague; a granddaughter, Wendy Trinidad and husband Ricky of Mexia; a grandson, Seth Stover of Nacogdoches; and great-grandchildren - Heather Lancaster, Troy Trinidad, Thalia Trinidad, Starla Shea and Cardice Shea. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and by many friends. Her brother, Doyle M. Baldridge, died in 1963.
