Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Palestine Herald April 04, 2007 Ruth Stroud Funeral services for Ruth Stroud, 77, of Centerville will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at North Creek Baptist Church northeast of Centerville. Her son, the Rev. W. Lynn Stroud, will officiate. Burial will follow in the North Creek Cemetery. Walters Funeral Home in Centerville is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Stroud passed away Monday in a Fairfield hospital. She was born May 28, 1929, in Trinity County to Elbert and Elna (Peterson) Madden. Mrs. Stroud was a homemaker and a member of North Creek Baptist Church. She worked a number of years as a waitress at the Halfway House Restaurant located near Interstate 45 in Centerville. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim Stroud; and two sisters. Mrs. Stroud is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, the Rev. W. Lynn and Kay Stroud of Montalba, Jimmy and Cara Stroud of Kingwood, Donald and Joanne Stroud of Centerville and Clifford Stroud of Centerville; a daughter, Patsy Stroud North of Centerville; two brothers, L.A. Madden of Greens Bayou and Junior Madden of Houston; 10 grandchildren, one great- grandchild and five step great-grandchildren.
