Fairfield Recorder - 5 April 1918 edition J. W. Stuart died J. W. Stuart died at the family residence in the city Mon. morning at 10:30 o'clock. He had been suffering for several months intermittently but up till a few days previous to his death he had been feeling comparatively well. His immediate illness from heart trouble however being more severe and lasting not more than a few days. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. S.W. Thomas at the residence Tues. morning at 9:00 o'clock. Interment was at the city cemetery at Groesbeck at 2:00 o'clock Tues. afternoon. Mr. Stuart was 70 years 5 months and 15 days of age and had made his home in Teague for the past 10 years. He was a confederate veteran and a very highly respected citizen of the community. He married in 1875 and is survived by his wife and children; Mrs. T. L. Childs, Teague; Mrs. Tracy Beckham, Mexia; Mrs. J.L. Arledge, Crockett; Mrs. Ivy Parker, Waxahachie; J.L. Stuart, Waxahachie; and W.A. Stuart, Marlin.
