Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder newspaper June 25, 2009 Laura (Black) Tacker Funeral services were held Friday for Laura Black Tacker, 93, of Fairfield who died Wednesday, June 17, at Fairfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Tacker was born in Russell on Aug. 1, 1915 to Joseph and Nora Cartwright Black. As a longtime resident of Freestone County, she graduated from Teague High School in 1933. For 43 years, Mrs. Tacker owned and operated Laura's Beauty Shop in Teague. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Teague's Church of Christ where Mrs. Tacker was a member for over 74 years. Officiating were Benjamin Needy and John Simians. Interment followed at Union Cemetery near Freestone. Mrs. Tacker is survived by her daughters, Jean Terry of Teague, Linda Emmons of Fairfield and Jo Ann Milton of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchil- dren, Stephen Terry of Tyler, Chadd Burke of Midlothian, Kimberly Reese of Las Vegas, Nevada, Andy Don Emmons of Fairfield, Kris Burke of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Julee Emmons of Frisco; greatgrandchildren, Jacob Burke, Nicholas Burke and Dalyon Reese; her "adopted family," Scott and Rachel Bossier and their children Bree, Brooke, Britain and Braden of Fairfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Tacker; and sons-in-law, Don Emmons, Beasley Terry, and Frederick Milton. Memorials may be made to Teague Church of Christ Missions Fund at P.O. Box 207, Teague, TX, 75860. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of Bowers Funeral Home in Teague.
