E. Talley Held at Teague TEAGUE - (Spl) - Funeral services for Ernest Elijah Talley, 80, who was one of the originators of LaMode's in Mexia, were held this afternoon at 2:30 in First Baptist Church. Officiating was the Rev. J. P. Jones, pastor of the Eighth Avenue Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev. Norman Nettleton, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the Fairfield cemetery under direction of the Ham Brothers Funeral Home. A native of Woodbury, Tenn. Mr. Talley died Tuesday about 12:15 p.m. in the City Hospital following a long illness. He was a retired salesman and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Mr. Talley was a longtime resident of Teague. Surviving are his wife of Teague; a daughter, Mrs. Francis Elizabeth Cashion of Houston; two sons, Evans Talley of Lake Jackson and Max Talley of San Antonio; a sister, Mrs. Joe Roller of Fairfield; and three grandchildren. =============================================================== The Fairfield Recorder - Thursday, December 15, 1960; page 1 Funeral Services Held in Teague For Ernest Talley Funeral services were held from the First Baptist Church in Teague December 7 for Ernest E. Talley, 80, who died at Teague City Hospital December 6 after an extended illness. The Rev. J. P. Jones, pastor of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church, and the Rev. Norman Nettleton, pastor of the Presbyterian Church officiated. Burial took place at the Fairfield cemetery. Mr. Talley was born in Woodbury, Tenn., and moved to Texas at the age of eight years. He lived in Fairfield and Teague most of his life. He worked at Peyton Bros. Store in Teague for many years. Surviving are his wife of Teague; a daughter, Mrs. Francis Elizabeth Cashion of Houston; two sons, Evans Talley of Lake Jackson and Max Talley of San Antonio; a sister, Mrs. Joe Roller of Fairfield; and three grandchildren.
