Freestone County, Texas Obituaries [The surname is sometimes spelled Tally or Talley.] [This is Coleman Talley b 01/11/1827, d 07/14/1888, buried at Talley Family Cemetery.] The Fairfield Recorder - July 20, 1888 edition DIED - At his residence three miles north of Fairfield, on Saturday, July 14th 1888, Mr. Coleman Tally, aged about 60 years. He came to this county from Cannon county, Tennessee, about 16 years ago. By industry and economy he became one of the county's substantial farmer citizens, and was held in high esteem by his neighbors and many friends. The deceased had been ill several weeks with flux, and though he improved some at first, he gradually became worse until death closed the last scene. He was a member of the Baptist Church, and will be missed by his brethren. His remains were interred in the burying ground on his place. Elder E. J. Brown, officiating at the gave. The funeral was one of the largest ever seen in the county, many mingling their sorrow with that of the bereaved family. The deceased left to mourn the loss of husband and father, a wife and several sons and daughters, and a number of grandchildren. The deceased was a good neighbor and a warm friend, and his death is his county's loss. Peace to his ashes.
