C. Talley Funeral services were held at Lawrence Funeral Home Chapel Monday morning at 10 o’clock for Mrs. Ophelia Celestial Talley, 90, a lifelong resident of Freestone County who died in Fairview Manor at Fairfield on Saturday. She was a resident of Teague at the time of her death. The services were conducted by the Rev. H. L. McKissack, pastor of the Cedar Baptist Church, and the Rev. Royce Sanders, pastor of the Eighth Avenue Baptist Church. Interment was in Salem Cemetery with the Lawrence Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Grandsons served as pallbearers. They were Russell Durham, Tommy Talley, Miller Talley, Gerald Lee Talley, Ross Talley, and Donald Goolsby. Mrs. Talley was born in Fairfield on May 19, 1879, the daughter of Thomas J. Gault and Flurrie Hendrix Gault. She was married to C. C. Talley near Fairfield on February 4, 1906. She was a member of the Eighth Avenue Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. V. L. Sheffield, of Mount Vernon, Illinois; three sons, Gault Talley of Mexia; Thomas Talley, Austin, and Clifton Talley, Houston; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and one niece, Mary Faye Orand of Houston. Mrs. Talley was a sister of the late Albert Gault of Teague.
