Winafree Johnson Tate

Winafree Johnson Tate, 84, of Fairfield, died Feb. 16, 1993, in Fairfield Nursing 
Home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Capps Memorial Chapel in Fairfield, with the 
Rev. O. D. Christian officiating. Burial will be in Lake Chapel Cemetery in 
Fairfield.

He was born April 2, 1908, in Freestone County and had lived there all of his 
life. He was a businessman and rancher for many years and volunteered as an 
active reserve deputy for Freestone County from 1969-1990.

He was preceded in death by his wife Della Tate, his brother, Marvin Tate, and 
his sister, Esther Pitmon.

Survivors include two sons, Winafree David Tate of Waco and William Leslie Tate 
of Fairfield; two sisters, Vivian Spivey and Morrell Willard, both of Fairfield; 
seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
