The Teague Chronicle - Jan. 18, 1918 Died at Bryan Mrs. Annie Tatman age 74 years and 8 months died at the home of her son in Bryan at 11:25 p.m. on Thurs. Jan 10 of pulmonary edema. Mrs. Tatman made her home here with Mr. & Mrs. T. F. Hamilton, the latter being her daughter. Recently she went to Bryan to visit her son who is a printer and now resides there. The remains were laid to rest at Siloam Springs, Ark. at 3:00 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14. Mr. & Mrs. Hamilton after a futile attempt to reach Mexia through the country and go to Bryan to accompany the remains to its burial place went to Mexia by rail Friday afternoon and joined the party Fri. morning (sic). There was much delay in train service Mr. Hamilton said in getting to Siloam Springs and likewise they had a trying time in getting back home Wed. Mr. Hamilton said that Mrs. Tatman sat up late Thurs. night and talked with her son and family in the best of spirits and apparently in the best of health. All retired about 11:00 and a few minutes later, Joe, her son heard her cough and going to her room found her sitting up in bed complaining of smothering to death. She expired 25 minutes later after two doctors from nearby had been summoned. The physicians said nothing could have saved her. Mr. & Mrs. Hamilton have the sympathy of their many friends in their hour of bereavement.
