Tatum, Sr., died at his residence in the southern part of the county, on the 10th inst. after an illness of several weeks, aged about 71. The deceased was one of the county's old settlers, having moved here from Alabama about thirty-three years ago. He was a prominent and influential citizen, and one held in the highest personal esteem. He was a man of the strictest personal integrity, and one of those old-time gentlemen of whom it is sometimes said: "his word is as good as his bond". In his death the county has lost an upright, valuable citizen; society an exemplary member, while to his now broken family circle belongs the legacy of his good name.
