Katherine (Ivy) Thomas

Katherine Ivy Thomas, age 72, of Lake Brownwood died Friday evening at the 
Brownwood Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

Her body will be cremated under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early 
and no public service will be held.

She was born Aug. 31, 1940, in Fairfield, Texas, the daughter of Fred and Viola 
Huckabee Ivy. She was married to Charles Thomas in 1955 in Ropesville, Texas and 
had been a resident of Brown County since 1974. She was a Licensed Vocational 
Nurse working at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center for many years prior to 
her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Early.

She was a loving mother and loved to fish and spend time with the grandchildren. 
She had an adventurous spirit and loved to ride motorcycles and travel. She was 
known for her loving and kind spirit to the patients she nursed.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Thomas of Lake Brownwood; one daughter, 
Cathy Summers and husband Eric of Lake Brownwood; three sons, David Thomas of 
Lake Brownwood, Curtis Thomas and wife Gail of Brownwood, and Freddie Thomas of 
Brownwood; four grandchildren, Shawna, Corey, Matthew and Julianne; three great-
grandchildren also survive; sister, Joyvern Wilson of Las Cruces, N.M.; and 
brother, J. P. Ivy of Fairfield, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Dave Thomas.
