Odessa American newspaper - Wednesday, January 11, 2006 edition Doris June Thomason Kermit Doris June Thomason, 80, of Odessa, passed away at the Hospice House in Odessa on Monday, January 9, 2006. She was born in Wortham, Freestone County, Texas on Sunday, June 21, 1925 to the late Edward James and Grace Marie (Roundtree) Tidwell. Doris married Ellis Walter Thomason in Brownwood, Texas on November 30, 1942. They were long-time residents of Monahans, Texas. She had made Odessa her home since 1996 and was a member of the Temple Baptist Church. She was the matriarch of her family. They all looked up to her for guidance and love. She will be sorely missed. Doris was preceded in death by her son, Jackie Ray Thomason in 1969, grandson Garry Wayne Thomason (Meme) in 1971; her husband, Ellis “Dub” Thomason, in 2001; her daughter, Cheryl Darlene Thomason Ward, in 2005; her brothers: Billy Ray Tidwell and Bobby James Tidwell, and her grandson, Michael Glenn Gardner. She is survived by her son: Gary Wayne Thomason and wife Trudy of Odessa, Texas; one daughter: Lisa Kay Thomason of Corpus Christi; two sisters: Anita Joyce Lakey and Linda Kay Tidwell, both of Kermit, Texas; three brothers: Kenneth Edward Tidwell of Andrews, Texas; Donald Lee Tidwell of Bedford, Texas; and Nobel (Teddy) Glenn Tidwell of Odessa, Texas; four grandchildren: Leslyn Marie Kelso of Odessa, Texas, David Dwight Thomason of Odessa, Texas, Jacquline Kristine West of Odessa, Texas, and Christi Loretta Kurtz of Allen, Texas; six great-grandchildren: Ashley, Jeremy, Megan, Emily, Lizzy, and Quinten; her beloved pet and companion, “Chloe”; and too many nieces and nephews to mention. Services to honor Doris’ memory were held on Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at the Family Services Funeral Parlor Chapel at 2:00 pm. Pallbearers were: John David, Ronnie Tidwell, Danny Tidwell, John Ford, Eddie Tidwell, and Eric Tidwell. Honorary Pallbearers included Ray Henley and Ben Keele. Interment followed at Kermit Cemetery.
