The Teague Chronicle - Jan. 3, 1919 edition Prominent Businessman Dies of Pneumonia S. E. Tucker, age 42 years and for several years a prominent hardware dealer of the city died at the family home at 2:00 o'clock am Jan. 1 of pneumonia which followed a short spell of influenza. From the first attack he was known to be seriously ill and grew worse until the end came. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. B. Preston at the family residence 3:00 o'clock Wed. afternoon Jan. 1 and interment was in city cemetery at 4:00. He left a wife and young baby and two grown daughters, Misses Neomi and Modine Tucker. He also had other relatives in Fort Worth and Mineral Wells. Mr. Tucker came from Mineral Wells to Teague about eight years ago and established a hardware business which bore his name and which he has conducted since that time. He was a prominent and useful public citizen and will be greatly missed by the community. He was county food administrator and helped the county to make a record in Mr. Hoovers food saving campaign during the war. He was a member of the school board and the city schools were closed during the funeral. The business houses out of respect also closed their doors for the funeral.
