Freestone County, Texas Obituaries O. B. (Spookie) Utley, Jr. October 31, 1923 - July 1, 2014 BIOGRAPHY O. B. Utley, Jr. 90, of Fairfield, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at his residence. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Capps Memorial Chapel. Entombment will follow at Fairfield Cemetery. THERE WILL BE NO VISITATION. Register book may be signed daily from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. until funeral time. Mr. Utley was born October 31, 1923 in Kirvin to parents Otis and Ruby Simmons Utley. This date of birth gave rise to his nickname, Spookie. He was a lifetime resident of Fairfield and graduate of Fairfield High School. He married Charlcie Cobb on September 23, 1947. He was owner and founder of Utley & Sons Feed & Hardware Store for 50 years and Utley Cattle Company. He was a member of First United Methodist Church since 1947 where he served on Building Committees, Administrative Board and Staff Parish for many years. He was on the Blackland Production Credit Association Board of Directors for 37 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Randy Hale. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 66 years, Charlcie Cobb Utley; two children, Cynthia Outlaw and husband Ossie of Fairfield; Brownie Utley and wife Tina of Fairfield; grandchildren, Jeff Hale, Julie Hale Myers and Andy; Wendy Utley Farrell and Justin; Obie Utley and Kendal; Jay Utley; great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Carson Gallegos; Austin Farrell; Jaxon and Beau Utley; Emily and Cale Myers.
