Estelle Utsey 
(December 24, 1916 - January 3, 2007) 

Funeral services for Mrs. Estelle Utsey were held on Saturday, January 6, 2007, at
2:00pm in the chapel at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Interment followed the 
services at Dew Cemetery. Bro. Jimmy Utsey will officiate. Mrs. Utsey passed away 
on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at the Teague Nursing Home. She is survived by her 
children, Judith Dane Maldonado & husband Ray of New Braunfels, Arthur Patrick 
Utsey & wife Jane of Albuquerque, NM, Vernell Lee & husband Wayne of Teague, Lin
Utsey & wife Jaculine of Teague, Jean Carol Wragge & husband William of Dawson, 
and David Utsey & wife Lynne of Fairfield; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-
grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, 
and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Utsey and one 
daughter, Betty Ann Cox Turner.

ESTELLE UTSEY 

Funeral services for Mrs. Estelle Utsey, life-long resident of Teague and 
Freestone County, were held on Saturday, January 6, 2007, at Bowers Funeral 
Home Chapel. 

Bro. Eddie Atchley shared precious memories of Mrs. Utsey. Interment followed
the service at Dew Cemetery. 

Mrs. Utsey was born on December 24, 1916 and passed away on Wednesday, January 
3, 2007, at the Teague Nursing Home. 

Mrs. Utsey was a homemaker and she and her husband Elmer raised seven children
on the family farm just outside of Teague. She was active in the church and 
with all church activities. She played the piano at the old Baptist Church at 
Stoney Point at Crossroads and after it no longer existed, she and Mr. Utsey 
joined Freestone Baptist Church where she again played the piano. 

She made many, many birthday, wedding and other special occasion cakes for the
public. She sewed, crocheted, quilted and anything else she could do with a 
needle and thread and a piece of material. She volunteered at both nursing 
homes in Teague, helping with parties and playing the piano. If there was ever
a need and she could help, she was there. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Elmer Utsey and her daughter Mrs. 
Betty Ann Cox Turner. 

Mrs. Utsey is survived by her children, Judith Dane Maldonado and husband Ray 
of New Braunfels, Arthur Patrick Utsey and wife Jane of Albuquerque, New Mexico,
Vernell Lee and husband Wayne of Teague, Lin Utsey and wife Jacquline of 
Teague, Jean Carol Wragge and husband William of Dawson and David Utsey and 
wife Lynne of Fairfield. Thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren 
and one great great granddaughter, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and 
friends also survive Mrs. Utsey. 

Bowers Funeral Home of Teague was entrusted with the arrangements.
