Spokesman Review, The (Spokane) - Apr 19, 2000 edition Rev. John Vaughns Spokane Visitation for the Rev. John L. Vaughns, 84, will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home South. Service is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Vaughns, who was born in Fairfield, Texas, died Thursday. He served in the Army during World War II and in 1944 moved to Spokane. He began working as a crane operator for Kaiser Aluminum Mead plant and retired in 1975. He later became a contractor for Columbia Western Enterprises. He was a pastor at the Salvation Inn Christian Center for many years. The Rev. Vaughns was a member of the Full Gospel Pentecostal Association, the Spokane Ministers Association, and the Interdenominational Ministers Fellowship Union. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Willie; a son, James Burford of Spokane; two daughters, Carolyn Northup of Tacoma and Sandra Edward of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sisters, Olga Rabon and Laura Muckleroy, both of Dallas, and Opal Champion of Fort Worth, Texas; three brothers, Walter Vaughns of Fort Worth, Mitchell Vaughns of Dallas and William Vaughns of Tyler, Texas; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
