Verila Banks Gaston

Funeral services were held last Tuesday for Freestone county native Verila
Banks Gaston, 76, of Fairfield who died Sept. 22.

Mrs. Gaston was born in 1910 in Freestone county to Andrew and Lessie Banks.

She was married Nov. 16, 1925 to Willie Gatson.  The couple had 15 children.

Mrs. Gaston was a member of Fairfield No. 1 Church of God in Christ.

She was preceeded in death by three sons, Aubrey Odis Gatsin, Authy Lee Gatson
and Alexander Gatson.

Burial was at noon last Tuesday at Post Oak Cemetery.

Mrs. Gatson is survived by her husband; four daughters, Excell Groggs of
Dallas, Mary Joyce Manning of Oakwood, Lanetta Burns of Fairfield and Mae Pearl
Alexander of Hobbs, N.M.; eight sons, Rev. Tyree Gatson of Buffalo, Maurice
Gatson, Melvin Gatson and Alvin Gatson, all of Dallas, Willie Gatson, Jr. of
Albuquerque, N.M., Lindburgh Gatson of Richmond, Calif and Walter Ray Gatson of
Fairfield;

Forty-three grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Banks of Austin and Andrew
Banks of Dallas; a sister, Dorothy Canady of Dallasl and several nieces,
nephews and great-grandchildren.
