Freestone County, Texas Obits Mexia Daily News - January 11, 2007 Herbert Doyle Walker Herbert Doyle Walker, 85, of Corsicana, died Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at his residence. He was born August 30, 1921, in Farrar (Limestone County). Mr. Walker, a retired Machine Operator at a paper mill, served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Donie, and the Second Avenue Baptist Church of Corsicana. During WWII he served in the Atlantic and European Theaters. Visitation is scheduled for Friday night from 6 until 8 o’clock at Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana. Funeral services for Mr. Walker will be Saturday morning, January 13, 2007, at 11 o’clock in Corley Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Jim Anderson, the Rev. Benny Mize and the Rev. Mark Munson. Graveside services will be Saturday afternoon at 3:30 in Wilson Chapel Cemetery (Freestone County). Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Frances Walker of Corsicana; a son, Jimmy D. Walker of Corsicana; a daughter, Suzanne W. Neal of Germantown, Maryland; a sister, Lois Miller of Rayburn; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles D. and Wanda Walker of Houston; three granddaughters - Shannon D. Walker of Spring, Robyn C. Neal of Frederick, Maryland, and Rebecca E. Neal of San Marcos; two grandsons - Emmett D. Walker of Pinellas Park, Florida, and Nathaniel R. Neal of Alexandria, Virginia; a special brother, Carl Dean Shields of Teague; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Levia Walker; by five brothers, William Walker, Dee Walker, Vernon Walker, Junior Walker and Jimmy Lee Walker; and by four sisters - Mabre Burton, Eunice Shamblin, Juanita Alewine and Laverne Jackson. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Donie He served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II as part of the European Theatre. He worked at Champion Paper Company for over 30 years until he retired. His real love was his farm of 130 acres in Donie, TX which he shared with his wife. He had a passion for livestock and gardening. He was preceded in death by his Parents-Willie & Levia Walker, his 5 Brothers - William, Dee, Vernon, Junior, and Jimmy Lee Walker, and 4 Sisters - Mabre Burton, Eunice Shamblin, Juanita Alewine, and Laverne Jackson.
