Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Johnnie Lucille (Evans) Wallace Funeral Services for Mrs. Johnnie Wallace were held Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at 11:00 a. m. in Moore's Angelic Funeral Home Chapel at 406 Monroe Street in Teague, with Rev. Cleo High, Pastor of Antioch Baptist Church, Mexia and Rev. Charles Kelley, Pastor of Woods Chapel Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in the Wortham Cemetery, Wortham, Texas. Viewing was held Tuesday, July 30, from 10:00 AM until the service began. Johnnie Lucille Evans-Wallace, was born on January 5, 1918 to the parentage of the late Richard Evans and the late Mamie Williams Evans in Kirvin, Texas. She professed her belief in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a member of Woods Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. She attended school in Kirvin and left home at an early age to pursue better employment opportunities. She worked and lived for many years in Stamford, Connecticut, Chicago, Illinois, and White Plains, New York before returning home to Texas finally settling in Houston until she retired. Later, she returned to Kirvin where she resided until she could no longer live alone. Then she moved to Fort Worth, to be close to her son, Johnnie, grandchildren and all the family she loved. Johnnie was an excellent cook and loved to entertain her family and friends. She enjoyed life and traveled extensively, meeting no strangers. She had many long- time friends, far and near, and kept in touch with them as long as she was physically able to do so, then with the help of her family. Whenever Johnnie was not on the telephone talking to one of her friends you could find her in front of the television set watching Westerns and a Major League Baseball game. Her favorite team was the New York Yankees. In addition to her parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by two sisters, Lizzie Mae Dobbins and Jessie Bell Evans, and one brother, Henry Estes. Her last days were spent at Southwest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Fort Worth, Texas. It was early on Friday, July 26, 2013, that the Lord called her home to rest. She is survived by her son, Johnnie F. Carter, Benbrook, Texas; 5 grandchildren, Ursula R. Howard, Durham, North Carolina, Wanda L. Hill, Lewisville, Texas, David W. Hill, Pflugerville, Texas, Jacqueline F. Rogers (Joe), Fort Worth, Texas, and John F. Carter (Carlise), Fort Worth, Texas; 14 great-grand children; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Cathelyn Butcher, Corsicana, Texas; nieces, Annie Laurie Pelton, Ethelyn Oliver, Patricia Barton (Charles) all of Dallas, Texas, Evelyn Smith (Billy), Fort Worth, Texas, Thelma Johnson, Seri Nolan both of Corsicana, Texas, Sally Jo Wiley (CJ), Teague, Texas and Pat Estes, Houston, Texas; nephew Samuel Butcher, Corsicana, Texas ; sister in-law Dorothy Estes, New Orleans, Louisiana; Special God-daughter Regina Drake, Houston, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
