Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Obituary of Miss Kathlee Frances Walthall (27 Apr 1903-11 Oct 1915) "The Texas Mesquiter" newspaper - Friday, October 29, 1915; Page: 3 Sister Died From Mad Dog Bite Miss Evalyn Walthall, operator at the local telephone exchange, returned Friday from Streetman, where she was called by the death of her sister [Kathlee Frances Walthall], who died of hydrophobia [rabies], as result of being bitten by a mad dog in July. While she was suffering with the disease, the stricken woman bit one of her brothers, and there were two other sisters whom it was feared had come in contact with the virus, hence the brother and two sisters were sent to Austin, to take the Pasteur treatment. It developed, however, that the brother and one of the sisters were not effected, and the other sister responded to the treatment in a satisfactory manner.
