Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Galveston Daily News (of Galveston, Tex.) - Tuesday, March 27, 1883 issue, Page 4 FREESTONE Fairfield Recorder: A negro child, about three years old, living on Mr. J. P. Robinson's place, was burned to death Friday morning. The child's mother, Malinda Ward, left it sitting in a chair, near the stove, and went down to Mr. Robinson, who was returning from town, saw the hogs dragging somthing about her door, and went to see what it was. It seemed, from appearances, that the child's clothes had caught from the stove, and it ran to the door and fell out, where it was burned to death. The hogs had torn it in a fearful manner, eating all the flesh from its face.
