Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder - October 1, 2009 edition [Benjamin] Edward Ward Edward Ward, 79, of Denton, passed away peacefully at his home on September 21, 2009, after a long battle with heart disease. He was born April 26, 1930, to Edd W. and Vassie Lee Ward in Fairfield. He graduated from Fairfield high school in 1948. He married his soul mate, Frances Barton, on February 22, 1952, in Corsicana, Texas, and they celebrated 57 years of marriage. He was employed by Lone Star Gas Company for 37 years, retiring in 1986 to start his own business, Ward's Air Conditioning and Heating. He gained much fulfillment while serving his customers for more than 20 years. Mr. Ward was a member of First Baptist Church of Denton where he served as a deacon. Ed is survived by his wife, Frances Ward, of Denton, and daughters Rhonda R oberts and husband, Steve of Denton, and Cathy Post and husband Keith of McKinney. He was known as "Papa" to his five grandchildren: Shelley Brownlee and husband, Dan of Fort Worth, Justin Roberts and wife Rachel of Haltom City, Jennifer Post and fiancé Ben Montgomery of McKinney, Kyle Post of Abilene and Lindsey Post of Lubbock. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Mattie Lee Goolsby. Visitation was Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at DeBerry Funeral Directors, Denton. The funeral service was held on Thursday, September 24, 2009, at First Baptist Church, Denton. Interment followed at Roselawn Memorial Park, Denton.
