Mr. Washington died Monday in Dallas. ==================================================== The Teague Chronicle August 23, 2007 OURTIA CLAY "BUDDY" WASHINGTON Funeral services for Ourtia Clay "Buddy" Washington were held on Saturday, August 18, 2007, at Emanuel Funeral Home Chapel in Teague, Texas. Rev. Lonnie R. Pelton officiated and Elder R.C. Emanuel was the Eulogist. Interment was at Fairfield Baptist Cemetery in Fairfield, Texas. Mr. Washington was born on January 6, 1925, in Freestone County, Texas to Andrew and Phylish Yarbrough Washington. He passed away on Monday, August 13, 2007. He was educated in the Post Oak and Furney Richardson Public School District. He joined the United States Navy and served during World War II. After his Honorable Discharge from the Navy, he worked as a CNA at Tyler T.B. Hospital; also as a construction worker and a glass installer. Mr. Washington is survived by his children De Lois Coulter of Dallas; Sally Jones and husband H.L. of San Antonio; Trudy Hicks of Ft. Worth; Sandra Ray of Dallas; Debra Goodman of Cleburne; Edward Turner of Houston; Amanda Washington of Tyler; Paula Washington of Dallas; O.C. Washington, Jr. of Tyler; his stepdaughter Brenda Lowe of Houston; his sisters Ioatie Flowers and Arrie Bell Brown of Fairfield; his brother Dan Washington and wife Finnie of Teague. A host of loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews relatives and friends also survive Mr. Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carolyn Washington, his brother H.C. “Watt” Washington and his sister Mary O. Dunbar. Pallbearers for Mr. Washington were Charles Anderson, Darain Bursey, Edward Turner, Gregory Washington, Walter Porter, Don Pruitt and Alphard Dunbar. Honorary pallbearers were his nephews Walter Mitchell, Zeak Rhodes, Robert Ross, Mr. Mason and Mr. Holbert. Emanuel Funeral Home of Teague was in charge of the arrangements.
