Freestone County, Texas Obituaries William (Bill or Zadie) Wasserman February 26, 1931 - September 6, 2021 William Wasserman, known as Bill or Zadie, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021, at the Freestone Medical Center in Fairfield. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on February 26, 1931. Mr. Wasserman served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. After his military service concluded, he worked for the Federal Government as an accountant for many years and lived in many locations across the country and overseas. He moved to Teague in the 1990’s and briefly served as Teague City Manager in 1997 into 1998. Mr. Wasserman was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed building model airplanes and boats and creating numerous other projects. He was a believer in God and lived his life for his family. He is survived by two daughters, Therese (Teri) Dinda of Teague, and Crystal Wasserman of Lewisville; two sons, Keith Wasserman (Amotz Ben-Israel) & wife Sandy Ben-Israel of Australia, and John Wasserman & wife Chie of Alexandria, Virginia; six grandchildren, Heather Jorgenson, Nikol Ben-Israel Simpson, Levi Ben-Israel, Aliyah Ben-Israel Hanley, Asha Ben-Israel, and Elizabeth Lemons; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one brother, Melvin Wasserman of Detroit, Michigan; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Wasserman was preceded in death by his wife, LaWanda Wasserman; four sisters; and one brother. Mr. Wasserman was laid to rest at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma with military honors at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. A memorial service was held at the New Life Tabernacle, on highway 84 near Mexia, on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 6:30 p.m.
