Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Mexia Daily News - Wednesday, January 2, 1957 - Page 1 Murder Charges Filed In Death Of Mexia Negro Mrs. Pearl Mae Waters, 28, the Mexia Negro woman who died of stab wounds Friday night at her home in East Mexia, will be buried tomorrow. Funeral services will be held at the Dorsey-Keatts Chapel at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Leeridor Cameron officiating. Burial will be In the Grove Island cemetery. Meanwhile, in Groesbeck, charges of murder have been filed against Pearl Mae's husband, Clemmon D. Waters, and Margaret Marie Smith, County Attorney Owen F. Watkins stated today. Both were released after their bond was set $1500 each. Judge Watkins says.the case will be investigated by the 77th District grand jury Monday and if they are indicted, they must make a new bond. Pearl Mae died after suffering knife wounds in her chest, arms, and head. Margaret Marie was treated at a local hospital for a cut on her hand. The victim was born in Mexia on Jan. 30, 1928, and lived here all of her life. Besides her husband, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Viola Means, Mexia; a sister, Mrs. Julio Morrison, Chicago, Illinois, and an aunt and uncle.
