Cpl. W. D. Harris Killed in Korea, Parent Notified Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Harris, 2829 Bossereau Pl., were notified Tuesday that their son, Marine Cpl. Weldon Darwood Harris, 19, was killed in action in Korea Sept. 25. Cpl. Harris was serving with the First Marine Division at the time of his death. He had served two years on Guam and returned home recently on a furlough which was cut short by the outbreak of fighting in Korea. The Dallas Marine is survived by his parents, two brothers, Charles and Kenneth Allen, and his grandparents, Mrs. Effie Bonner of Corsicana and Mr. and Mrs. H. I. Singleton of Eureka. Cpl Harris, a member of the Methodist Church of Eureka, attended Mildred High School at Mildred, Tex., and Crozier Technical High School in Dallas. [I believe this is from the Corsicana newspaper. Mr. & Mrs. H. I. Singleton are Carrie Mae Grantham (b. 1888) and Herchal Icas Singleton (1886-1954). The Effie Bonner is unknown. The Korean War was fought between 1950 and 1953.]
