Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder Oct. 15, 1897 edition Young Locals A Sad Accident Mrs. Weaver, wife of Jim Weaver of this place, was making soap on the 8th inst. and standing around the fire, her apron caught on fire. She ran into the house and told her sister to get a quilt and wrap around her, but before her sister could do so, Mrs. Weaver ran out of the house and started to the field to her husband and Mr. Noah Weaver. They discovered her about 400 yards away. They told the Negro who was sitting on his horse talking to them to run to her, but he got there too late to save her. All of her clothing was burned off and she was burned so badly that she died about five hours afterwards. Mrs. Weaver leaves a husband, a little four months old baby, a mother and three sisters and three brothers to mourn her loss. She was about 20 years old. Her remains were interred in the Rehoboth cemetery on the 9th inst. This is one of the saddest accidents that has ever happened in our community. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family and trust they will be comforted by the great father above.
