Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Corley Funeral Home MRS, ANNE COLLINS WEBBER (February 28, 1919 - December 26, 2008) U.S. Veteran Mrs. Anne Collins Webber died at Parkwood Nursing Home in Bedford, Texas on 26 December 2008. She was the daughter of Will and Mary Lella Slade Collins of Streetman, Texas. Born in Fairfield, Texas in 1919 she graduated from the Scott and White School of Nursing. Upon graduation Anne joined the Army Nurse Corps. She served as an Army RN in a field hospital in England during World War II. CPT John D. Webber, of Buffalo New York, purposed to Anne and they were the second couple married in Germany after the Great War. Anne was an Army wife for 22 years. As an Army wife her travels lead her to: Germany, Yokohama, Japan, the Panama Canal Zone, Panama and Guatemala. While Anne was state-side she made her home in Ft Hood, Texas, Ft. Knox, Kentucky, Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, Virginia and New Jersey. She resided for many years in Houston and Corsicana, Texas. Anne is predeceased by her parents, husband and siblings: Slade Collins of St. Lewis, MO, Will Collins of Houston, Issie Collins of Sweeny, Texas, Ruth Collins of Navarro, Mary and Martha Collins of Corsicana, Texas. Anne is survived by her brother Major Collins of Houston, Texas and her three children: Nancy W. Deming of Michigan, John Daniel Webber III of Colleyville, and James David Webber, currently serving in Iraq. Anne's grandchildren are Carrie Anniece Deming and Matthew Dennis Deming and his wife Fanasy Prokop Deming of Jackson, Mississippi. Anne has two great grandchildren: John Ethan Deming and Whittman Slade Deming of Mississippi. The family would like to acknowledge Glenda Webber, wife of David, for her love and care of our Mother in the last years of her life and Glenda's children David Oliver and Lindsey Oliver as well. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. – 11:30 A.M. Thursday, January 1 from 10 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana, Texas. Funeral services are 2:00 pm Thursday at Corley Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. B. F. Risinger, Jr. officiating. Pallbearers are: Peyton Collins, David Price, Danny Rich, Dickie Steele, Matthew Deming, R. Crawford Tatum. Internment will follow at Birdston Cemetery in Streetman.
