West Jr., 59, of Marquez, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Fairfield. Burial will follow at Brushy Cemetery in Marquez under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home of Teague. Mr. West died Wednesday in Streetman. ============================================ The Freestone County Times August 26, 2008 issue Page: 8-B passages Emmitt McKinley West Jr. On August 13, 2008, God called Emmitt McKinley West, Jr. home to rest from his earthly labor. The Home Going celebration was held Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Fairfield, Texas with Elder Don Manning officiating and Pastor Carlos Daniels reading the eulogy. Mr. West was born on September 11, 1948 to Emmitt McKinley, Sr. and Lillian Lucille Cooper West. He joined the Robinson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Marquez, Texas where he was an active member and was the Master of Ceremonies on many occasions. Mr. West attended Buffalo Elementary School and graduated from G.W. Carver High School in Jewitt, Texas later attending Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. He had retired from the U.S. Post Office. He married Lila M. Wade. He leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Sonia and two sons Bernard and Emmitt Kinte; one sister, Patricia Ann Horn (Marvis), all of Fairfield, Texas; brothers, German Lee West of Corpus Christi, Texas; Theodore Ringer, Jr. (Helen) of Roundrock, Texas; John Kennedy Ringer of Houston, Texas; Michael Glenn Ringer (Paula) of Cedar Hill, Texas; Timothy King Ringer of San Antonio, Texas; and Joseph Eugene Ringer (Heidi) of Hawaii; Aunt’s whom he loved dearly - Jewell Bouden of Marquez, Texas; Cora West Sanders of Marquez, Texas; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives, and special friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Emmitt McKinley West, Sr. and Lucille Cooper West Ringer. The pallbearers were Lt. Sanders, Tony Brackens, Jr., Keith Canady, Andre Deon Daniels, Charkeith Brackens and Bryon Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Gene Tinner, Jr., Leroy Field, Jr., Derrick Ford, and German LaJuan West. Emmanuel Funeral Homes in Teague, Texas, made the arrangements for the family.
