Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Sonda Faye (Carroll) Whatley THE FAIRFIELD RECORDER Thursday, June 8, 1995, pg. 4b SONDA F WHATLEY Funeral services were held Monday in Fairfield for Sonda Faye Whatley, 50, of Fairfield who died Saturday. Mrs. Whatley was born July 10, 1944 in Freestone County and was a housewife and member of Fairfield Harmony Presbyterian Church where she performed in the hand bell choir. Services were conducted at 10 a. m. at Capps Memorial Chapel with the Rev. John McCord officiating. Special music, “How Great Thou Art,” was provided by soloist Sarah Jo Childs. Burial was at Woodland Cemetery in Kirvin. Pallbearers were Wiley Stroud, Keith Colvin, Mark Webster, Glenn Harris, Jeff Chacherc and Brett Carroll. Mrs. Whatley is survived by her husband, James Whatley of Fairfield; a daughter, Teresa Vandiver of Fairfield; a son Kent Whatley of Fairfield; her parents, Jack and Grace Carroll of Fairfield. Three brothers, Milton Carroll, Johnny Carroll and Jack Carroll all of Fairfield; seven sisters, Lucy Salter of Streetman, Carolyn Nanny of Teague, Billie Brim of Mont Belview, Martha Lindsey, Kathy Whatley and Shelia Winfree, all of Fairfield, and Sara Owens of Van; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Van Dean Carroll. Arrangements were made by Capps Memorial Chapel of Fairfield.
