John Whitaker Jr., 79, of Fairfield passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2006.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Fairfield.

John Whitaker, Jr.

John Whitaker, Jr. died at the age of 79 in Tyler on April 12. He was a
resident of Fairfield and was born September 23 in Houston.
Funeral services were held Friday at First Baptist Church with Mack Roller and
Don Suits II officiating. Interment followed at Fairfield Cemetery.

Mr. Whitaker was a retired law enforcement officer. He worked for the Harris
county sheriff's office and also as a reserve deputy for Freestone county
sheriff's office before retiring. Mr. Whitaker was a member of First Baptist
Church in Fairfield.

He is survived by his wife Ann Whitaker; daughters Judy Ann Patterson and
husband David of Houston and Vicki Smith and husband Gordon of Fairfield;
sister Irene Hughes; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Rosie Whitaker.

Pallbearers were David Patterson, PCF Brian Patterson, Brak Whitaker, Joshua
Dodds, Jackie Durrett, Aaron Dodds and Philip Shaw. Honorary pallbearers were
Gordon Smith, Buddy Durrett, Rick Howerton and John Vannatter.

Arrangements were by Capps Memorial Chapel in Fairfield.
