Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Tommie Jean (Henry) Whitaker Tommie Jean Whitaker, 65, of Fairfield, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 in Humble. Services will be 12:00 noon, Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery near Teague. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Capps Memorial Chapel Mrs. Whitaker was born February 4, 1947 in Houston, to parents Thomas C. and Virginia Blake Henry. She received her B.Ed. from the University of Houston and her M.Ed. from the University of Texas. Mrs. Whitaker was a certified special education teacher in addition to teaching other subjects during her career. She taught in Wortham; was a special education counselor for the Bi-Stone County Coop; Freestone County Sheriff’s Reserve Instructor and was known especially for her writing of high school grants. She retired from teaching at Buffalo High School after more than 25 years. She had been a resident of Fairfield since 1974 moving from Dallas. She married A. Wayne Loven on June 30, 2007 in Fairfield at the Fairfield Lake Pavilion. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her former husband Capt. Hugh D. Whitaker. Pallbearers will be John Henry, Ryan Jameson, Walt Jameson, Joshua Jameson, Jason Hannen and Rafael Manriquez. Honorary bearers are Will Jameson, Evan Jameson, Gavin Manriquez and Jacob Jameson. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, A. Wayne Loven of Fairfield; three children, Robert Jameson and wife Lana of Lawton, Oklahoma; Walter Jameson and wife Gina of Fairfield; Michael Jameson and wife Samantha of Humble; two brothers, John Henry of Houston; Jim Brown and wife Veronica of Houston; one sister, Fran Hardin and husband John of Magnolia; ten grandchildren, Emerald; Joshua; Padon; Ryan; Will; Evan; Jacob; Julie; Jason; Jennah; four great-grandchildren, Gavin; Whitney; Gabriel; Kaylee; numerous nieces, nephews and other family.
