Corsicana Daily Sun - 9/27/2002 edition Rose Bell (Bertrand) White Rose Bell White, 83, of Kirvin passed away Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002 in Corsicana. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Capps Memorial Chapel in Fairfield. Services will be 11 am. Saturday at Kirvin Baptist Church with the Rev. Louis Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Kirvin. Pallbearers will be Willie Rowland, Clint Sutton, James White, Gene Allen, Tommy Flanagan and PeeWee Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. N.D. Buchmeyer and Sonny Sessions. Mrs. White was born May 9, 1919 in Eunice, La. She married Travis Rudolph White June 30, 1934 in Navarro County. She was a member of Kirvin Baptist Church and was a retired LVN from Dr. Buchmeyer's Wortham Hospital. She was a loving caregiver to her patients. She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis White; son, Jimmie White; father, Olid Bertrand; mother, Marie Denise (Veillon) Layton; and stepfather, V.R. Layton. Survivors include her son, Charles White of Kirvin; sister, Lula Bell Flanagan of Fort Worth; brothers, Claude Layton of Conroe and Manfred Bertrand of Kirvin; daughter-in-law, Marion White of Streetman; grandchildren, Carol Cox Langley, Sharon White and James "Buddy" White, all of Groesbeck; great-grandchildren, Chelsi Cox, Cara Cox and Cade Cox, all of Groesbeck; and several nieces and nephews. She was born May 9, 1919 in Eunice, La. to Marie Denise Veillon Layton and Olid Bertrand. Mrs. White lived most of her life in Kirvin and was a member of Kirvin Baptist Church. She was a retired nurse from Dr. Buchmeyer’s Wortham Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis White; son, Jimmie White; and stepfather, V.R. Layton. Mrs. White is survived by a son, Charles White of Kirvin; sister, Lula Bell Flanagan of Fort Worth; brother, Claude Layton of Conroe; brother, Manfred Bertrand of Kirvin; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
