William was born Sept. 11, 1936 in Fairfield, Texas. William worked as a correctional officer. He also was a reserved deputy and a member of the Fairfield VFW, having served in the Navy. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. William is survived by his wife, Linda Jo Willard; daughters, Cheryl Minze, Cristi Swinson and her husband Kyle; special daughter, Jolie Amber Hicks and her three children; son, Darryl Willard and his wife Michelle; brothers, David Willard and Claudia; sisters, Helen Campbell and Jack, Ann Milligan and Don; grandchildren, Darryl "DJ" Willard, James "Oodie Ray" Minze, Kylie Swinson; step-grandchildren, Brenton Parker, Jeffery Parker; mother-in-law, Bitty Grizzard; and brother-in-law, Bill Goodman. He was preceded in death by his son, Marvin Russell Willard; parents, William Thomas Williard and Mary Elizabeth Willard; brother, Bill Willard; sister, Doris Goodman; and father-in-law, Toby Grizzard. Family will receive friends today, July 19, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. at Chapps Memorial Chapel in Fairfield, Texas with Bro. Don Suits officiating. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at the Capps Memorial Chapel. A burial will follow at Lake Chapel Cemetery in Teague, Texas. Pallbearers will be Rick Howerton, John Vannatter, Bob Baker, Dickey Taylor, Randy Robinson, Jack Campbell, and honorary pallbearers will be Freestone County Deputies.
