Freestone County, Texas Obits Fairfield Recorder Thursday February 2, 2006 Walter Lee Greene, Jr. Funeral services for Walter Lee Greene, Jr., a resident of Fairfield, were held January 20 in Fairfield. Interment was at Woodland Cemetery in Corsicana. Born on September 27, 1930, Mr. Greene lived part of his lived in Dallas where he worked several jobs. He was employed at a pharmacy, a dress factory, in shipping and finally retired from the Dart Bus Company in Dallas. After retirement he moved back to the Fairfield Post Oak area. Mr. Greene spent his retirement attending cattle and planting peas while rendering aid to anyone in need of help. Mr. Greene was also a faithful member of the NAACP. Because of his contributions to the organization he was made a lifetime member and presented with a Life Time Membership plaque. He also gave continuous support to Jones Chapel A. M. E. Church in Fairfield and served in the United States military for a number of years. Surviving Mr. Greene are his companion of many years Ms. Rorlon Washington; also his biological, step and guard children Clarence Washington III, Loretta Dixon, Clayten Averhart, Walter Sneed, Terresa Williams, Wayne Owens, Chris, Spring, Joey Greene and Toni Ward and son-in-law Mr. Al Ward. He is also survived by his sisters Oletha Richardson, Loretta Johnson, Evelyn Neal and Jewel McGee; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; his very faithful friend Johnny Copeland and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Mr. Greene was preceded in death by his parents Walter Lee Greene, Sr. and Bennie B. Wake services will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Morning Star Primitive Baptist Church, 4129 Denley Dr., Dallas. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church in Fairfield with the Rev. D. Houston officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Corsicana.
