Freestone County, Texas Obituary Fairfield Recorder - June 29, 2006 edition - page 4B Tom Wooldridge, Jr. Tom L. Wooldridge, Jr., 62, of Hudson, Mass. died Tuesday, June 13 after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 17 at Grace Baptist Church, with burial following at Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson. Mr. Wooldridge was born Sept 3, 1943 in San Antonio to Tom L. Sr. and Jorene Self Wooldridge. After graduating from W.W. Samuel high school in Dallas, he answered his draft call and taking his beloved saxophone, went into the U.S. Army, where he traveled with the band playing military functions all over the country. In returning from serivce, he entered college and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. Mr. Wooldridge accepted a position in the U.S. governemtn at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio, and continued his education at Wright State University, where he earned his MBA. In 1976, he married Mary Elizabeth Pitl and transferred to Hanson Air Force Base at Boston, Mass. At Hanson he received the signal honor of being one of the few civilians selected to attended the Air Command and Staff College from which he graduated with honors. He was appointed Chief of Contracts for ESC (Electronic Systems Command) and continued to serve until his retirement in 2002. Mr. Wooldridge is survived by his wife, Mary E. Wooldridge, his son Jason of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla; two daughters, Rita Renee Adams and husband Rick of Natick, Mass; and Shaun Walsh and husband Patrick of Port Huron, Mich. He is survived by his parents Arlan and Jorene Self Clemmer of Blossom, Texas, and Tom L. Sr. and Donella Wooldridge of Freeport, Texas; three sisters, Rita Chestnut of Dallas; Becky Johnson of Blossom; Lynda Ford of Houston; two brothers, Brian Clemmer of Blossom and Jerry Wooldridge of Houston; eight grand children and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Wooldridge is also preceded in death by his grandparents Harry Linn and Fannie Mar McIlveen Wooldridge and Jim Grover and Florence Suttles Self.
