Freestone County, Texas Obituaries [Nancy Katie Willard w/o John Sneed Yates (16 Nov 1881-13 Feb 1907) ] Fairfield Recorder - Feb. 15, 1907 issue Mrs. John Yates, of Ward Prairie, is reported seriously ill. LATER - Mrs. Yates died Wednesday night. ===================================================== Fairfield Recorder - March 1, 1907 issue "In Memoriam" "Mother, I am so happy." The above were the precious words of Mrs. Katie Yates as she departed this life on the bright and peaceful night of Feb 13, 1907. All natures seemed to smile as her child-like spirit took its flight from this world of sorrow and care to that home beyond the skies where it is always one bright day, and sorrow never comes. Yes, after eight days of suffering from that dread disease, pneumonia, she has gone, but not forgotten. We remember her still and will for years to come. We have no desire to forget such a true and gentle woman. Her's was a most lovable character. She was a most lovable character. She was a most lovable and devoted wife, a faithful and loving mother. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Willard, having married J. S. Yates, Nov. 15, 1899. Unto this union four children were born--one has gone before, waiting to welcome mother home. She liked three days of being 26 years and 3 months old. She has been a constant member of the Baptist church at Ward Prairie since early youth. She leaves a husband and three little ones -- two boys and one girl -- to mourn for that saintly wife and mother. Besides these, she has a host of other relatives and friends who rejoice to remember her as she was a true and faithful Christian woman. We desire to mention the untiring love, absolute faithfulness and true devotion of her loving husband who never tired of doing all in his power for her comfort. It was indeed beautiful to witness such unfeigned love as was exhibited by him for his darling wife. This article would not be complete if we failed to mention the love and devotion of her mother, who was also a constant attendant at her bedside. It was to her she uttered these words just before she died, "Mother, I am so happy", and fell asleep in Jesus with a peaceful smile on her face. There was not a struggle, not a twitch of muscle, just a gradual lessening of her respiration until her sweet spirit took its flight to Him who gave it. May each and every one of us be enabled to meet her saintly spirit around the great white throne, where sickness, sorrow, suffering and death are never known. O beautiful isle of memory, lighted by the morning star of Life! When the roses blooming by the door, where the robins sing among the apple blossoms, where the bright waters ripple in melody. There are echoes of songs that are sung no more; tender words spoken by lips that are dust; blessings from a heart that is still. There's a useless cradle, and a broken doll, a sunny tree, and an empty garment folded away, there's a lock of silvered hair, as unforgotten prayer, and mother is sleeping there. THREE WHO LOVED HER. ============================================================== Fairfield Recorder - Apr. 5, 1907 issue ABOUT THE COURT HOUSE Vital Statistics Deaths ...
