Freestone County, Texas Obituaries [Thanks to Nancy Rula for her help locating this obituary.] Obituary of Martha Jane (Pate) Yates (wife of Daniel Tomlinson Yates, Sr.) (3 May 1837 to 6 Mar 1913) Fairfield Recorder - Friday, Mar. 7, 1909 issue Mrs. D. T. Yates, quite an aged lady and an old resident of Freestone county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ben Willard, at Yerby, Thursday morning. Her body was shipped to Mountain View, Okla., for burial. ------------------------------------------------------- Fairfield Recorder - Friday, Mar. 14, 1913 issue In Remembrance of Mrs. D. T. Yates The Death Angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Willard, March 6, and called from earth to heaven mother and grandmother, Mrs. D. T. Yates. The writer had known this good lady for thirty years, and to know her was to love her. Mrs. Yates, better known as Aunt Martha, was a Christian lady, good and kind to all, always ready to lend a helping hand, and in case of sickness no one was better. She was a member of the Methodist church. She leaves to mourn her loss, five children, Vail Yates, Mountain View, Okla.; Redmond and John Yates, of Portales, N.M.; Jack Yates, of Kirven, and Mrs. Ben Willard, Ward Prairie; also a host of friends and relatives. Our loss is heaven's gain. Dear children, grieve not, for your mother has gone to Jesus. We should bow in submission to Him who doeth all things well. Peace to her ashes. Her remains were taken to Mountain View, Okla., for interment and were accompanied by Messrs. Ben Willard and Sam Steen. Her nephew, W.
