Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder March 08, 2008 Mildred (Miller) Yielding Funeral services were held this week for Mildred Miller Yielding, 92, of Freestone who died Sunday, March 2. Mrs. Yielding was born in Freestone on Aug. 20, 1915. In 1932, she married Leonard Yielding and together they shared 43 years of marriage before his death in 1975. Mrs. Yielding worked as a farmer and rancher in addition to her 11-year employment with the Mexia State School. She was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church before joining Freestone Baptist Church where she was member for almost 50 years. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Burial followed at Union Cemetery. Mrs. Yielding is survived by daughters Charlsie Stirton and husband Don of Freestone and Sylvia Leath and husband Jack of Waco; son Leonard Don Yielding and wife Elizabeth of West Monroe, Louisiana; grandchildren Donna Stirton Williams of San Antonio, Chris Yielding of San Francisco, California, Amy Colvin of Ruston, Louisiana, Charles Leonard Yielding of Fort Worth, Jeni Yielding of Rockville, Maryland, Julie Braswell of Springdale, Arkansas; Jessica Holland Craft of Temple, Elizabeth Holland Simmons of Georgetown, Cliff Leath of Watauga, Jason Leath of Oakwood, and Jeff Leath of Porter; and 23 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husband Leonard Yielding; brothers Elvin Miller, Lawson Miller and Clayton Miller; and sisters Lola Mae Miller Dailey and Bernell Miller. Mrs. Yielding was born and raised in Freestone. She attended the Freestone school and lived almost all of her life in Freestone. Mrs. Yielding was a farmer and rancher for all of her adult life and she also worked for the Mexia State School for eleven years before retiring in 1979, but her chosen career was taking care of her family. She married Leonard Yielding in 1932 and shared some forty-three years together before being separated by his death in 1975. Mrs. Yielding was a member of the Freestone Baptist Church for almost fifty years and a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church for several years earlier.
