Early pictures from Freestone County Wednesday, March 11, 2009 2:06 PM From: "Steve" The three that I am sending now are of my great-grandparents' ( Charles Augustus and Adele Calame Chausse) homes which were located west of Wortham : 1. The first Chausse home, built I assume when they came to Texas in 1898. From left to right: Charles Augustus Chausse and his wife, Adele Calame Chausse. The children are (l-r): Lelia Rebecca, Charles Rolland, and Loeva. The photo was probably taken about 1902. 2. Charles Chausse had a new home built for his family in 1912. Pictured are (l-r): Lelia Rebecca Chausse, Adele Calame Chausse, Anna Imogene Chausse, Lise Anaise Daenger Calame (Adele's mother visiting from IL), Charles Rolland Chausse, and Charles Augustus Chausse. The builder, Macon "Mac" (pronounced "Make") Thornton and his family are on the front porch. The other gentleman I believe is his brother, Dozier Thornton, who helped to build the house. Gillie Calame and Roy Butler are on the roof ( not sure which is which ). 3. The newly completed Chausse home in 1912. Pictured are (l-r) : Charlie, Imogene, Adele, Macon Thornton (the builder), Lelia, and Rolland Chausse. I have additional early Freestone county photos if you are interested. Steve Watson
