Wanda Willard Smith Monday, February 13, 2012 10:16 AM "The Calame Church of Wortham, Texas Here is some of the correspondence Russ and I received from Steve Watson. I remember this church in the country when I was a child. It was across the road from the Chausse house. Sometime during WWII, the building was moved into Wortham where it still stands on Hwy 14. Russ was in Wortham recently and took photos of the church. I'll ask him to forward them on to you. I've never known much about the order of worship in this church. It was sorta like the Quakers in that there was no clergy. I think the Calames were Huguenots or something like (?in Switzerland or France?) before coming to this country, and brought their religion with them. Originally, they settled in Montgomery County, Illinios, but came to Limestone/Freestone County, Texas, about 1880. I really don't know much about them, although my Aunt Imogene Willard was a Chausse and thus related to them."" ------------------------------------------------------------------- Steve Watson - Monday, January 16, 2012 4:53 PM " If the baby Adele Chausse is holding is Rolland, then this would have been made in 1901. My great-grandmother is in the crowd next to two small girls (Lelia and Loeva?) and is holding a baby (Rolland?)."
