She married Judge Asa Green Anderson on May 14, 1868 in Freestone County. ) Freestone County History With J.R. “Sonny” Sessions, Jr. Freestone County Times; Jan. 18, 2005: Mrs. Anderson’s Ledger #14 “Texas Centennial 1936” On May 14, 1936 old days were revived at dedication exercises conducted following the erection of a Centennial Marker at Fairfield Female College, located on the original site. On account of rain exercises were in the Fairfield High School auditorium. The Teague Band, conducted by W.J. Botter, played several nice selections. Mrs. K.W. Sneed of Wortham, Co-Chair of the Centennial Committee, and Superintendent P.D. Browne conducted the program. Not expecting to be on the program she was called on to tell something, she did which well received by the audience. Then Bessie, Mrs. J. Ross Bell told of days of the mixed school when her three children got their education. Several others spoke also. Superintendent Notley, Teague and J.P. Stubbs, Wortham made intellectual talks. P.D. Browne gave the history of the college and had Sarah Sessions, Fairfield senior and Gloria Hawker, Teague senior to step forward, Mrs. Anderson stood between the girls with long stem red roses in the girls arms and told them to escort her to the grounds and place the flowers at the base of the marker, then turning to the audience said two lovely girls of this generation and one sweet girl of Dixie Land, the band struck up the music. One day a few years before she told of thinking about the old college how it had gone to rack and been abandoned for school. She thought about her teacher Miss Bettie’s flower garden and some of the girls bringing her flower seeds. She remember taking her some arborvitae seed, years later the plants had grown taller than she and yet sweet.
