“OH YES”
  The last session of our literary school that I attended didn’t graduate though 
I was chosen for their Queen of May.  On the morning of the first day of May we 
met at the Masonic Hall, we formed in lines of two an two, then marched to a lake 
just out of the town limits.  The boy’s had put up a May Pole until we tired out.  
Then our Mother’s spread a bountiful lunch under some large Oaks, then we had a 
feast.  We girls did not go paddling in the water though at other times we did.
