December 17, 2010 William L. “Bill” Young Anonymous Corsicana Daily Sun The Corsicana Daily Sun Sat Dec 18, 2010, 05:47 PM CST William (Bill) L. Young, born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on September 3, 1939 to Eleanor Green Young and Maurice Gill Young, died on Friday, December 17, 2010 at Navarro Regional Hospital in Corsicana. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Jean Young of Corsicana daughters; Julie Ann Humphries and fiancé’ Mark Lyle of Emhouse; Christie Jean Burleson of Grand Saline; son, Robert Maurice Young of Arlington; granddaughter Brandy Humphries Hurford and husband, Mike of Corsicana, grandson Joseph Luke Burleson of Grand Saline: two great-grandsons; Macon and Kegan Hurford of Corsicana. Bill attended Navarro College and received his associate degree and later attended the University of Texas. He was a long time member and past president of the Navarro County Historical Society. His first passion was archeology; he served as president of the Dallas Archeological Society, as a member of the Texas Archeological Society for over 37 years, and as a member of the Tarrant County Archeological Society. Bill was one of the original thirteen archeological stewards for the Texas Historical Commission. Bill was a columnist for the Corsicana Daily Sun as well as being a popular speaker in Navarro and surrounding counties. He was also an avid historian and spent many long hours researching and verifying historical facts. Bill was privileged to work on the prestigious Gault (Paleo Indian) Site near Salado, Texas and he was credited with the discovery of the Mission San Jose De La Nazoni in East Texas. Bill was the owner and manager of the Arrow Landscaping Company in Corsicana. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed terribly, but there is comfort in knowing that his suffering has ended and he is at home with his Lord. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Fresenius Medical Care, at Community Transit, and Bethany Home Health Care for all their assistance and loving care for Bill. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2010 at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Lyle officiating. The pallbearers will be Bruce McManus, Wayne Nelson, Ed Erwin, John McClung, John Yates, Chris McKeown, Lewis Palos, and Rick Hocker. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Summerall, Alan Skinner, Dick Kelsey, Robert Keathley, Sabino Perales, Valentin Perales, Adrian Perales, Apolonio Perales, and Armando Perales . Burial will be immediately following at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Navarro County Historical Society at 912 W. Park Avenue, Corsicana, TX 75110.
