Spotlight Upon Unsung Heroes: Helena M. Titus, Power Girl Show Host, Cancer Survivor, Educator. By Wilbur Thirkield Titus Helena M. Titus is considered a hero because she survived a bout with cancer and devoted her life to helping unmarried women find a good and productive life at the expense of a lucrative career as a specialist in the field of education. The PowerGirl Show, of which she is the host ... " was created to provide a place where single Christian women can hear Godly wisdom about the issues of life as it affects them on a daily basis. It "is designed to speak to every aspect of life, spiritually, mentally, physically, socially, and financially, explains Helena. Most Christian women's media assumes that adult women are married with children, and single women are young adults (under 25). However, this is a misperception in the Black community. Statistics tell us that over 72% of our adult women are unmarried, and 43% will never say "I do." That means that many are facing life as an unmarried woman, but no one is talking about it, seriously." Helena has roots in Freestone County, Texas., She is the daughter of King, Jr., and Joenicey Titus and the grand daughter of King Henry, Sr. and Ena M. Titus who moved to Los Angeles, CA in the 1940s. She is a former special education teacher and vocational education consultant. "She is a cancer survivor who is determined to live the life God purposed for her to live, sharing the lessons she has learned so that others can benefit from her mistakes and her successes." An entrepreneur at heart, she accepted the call to ministry in 1996, but didn’t begin studying for life in ministry until the year 2000. She completed the Ministry Development Institute at Power Christian Center headed by Dr. Gene Johnson, her Pastor. She serves on the Executive Board, the Praise Team, Children’s Ministry, and the church staff. In her spare time, Helena acts as the Director of The I.E.P. Project a non-profit organization designed to empower parents of children with learning disabilities. She is still called upon occasionally to testify as an expert in the areas of classroom management and program appropriateness for students with learning differences. Helena loves this new assignment to minister to the needs of unmarried women in The Body of Christ, and she looks forward to what the future holds for her and The PowerGirl Show."
